Japanese Gothic
By Kylie Lee Baker
APRIL 2026

Rating: 4 out of 5.

In 2026, Lee Turner killed his NYU roommate three days ago and fled to Japan. In 1877, Sen is the daughter of the last Samurai in Japan. The two share a doorway in their bedroom that becomes a portal between their timelines where the two have more in common than they might think.

Emotional, heartfelt, and surprising. A unique and fascinating story. I won’t spoil it here with any additional details but I certainly recommend it.
