I’m Glad My Mom Died
By Jennette McCurdy
NOVEMBER 2025

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Jennette has what every child wants: fame on a popular Nickelodeon television show. Well, almost every child, maybe. Certainly not Jennette.

Jennette feels robbed of her childhood and exploited. Mainly because she was.

In this candid memoir, Jennette McCurdy bravely explores the harrowing codependent relationship she had with her abusive narcissistic mother.

She begins to recognize how painful realities she’s been forced to contend with as a child (including eating disorders and emotional manipulation) have continued to manifest in her adulthood.

It’s impossible to read this story and not applaud McCurdy for her path of recovery and self discovery. Brilliant.
