The Devil by Name
By Keith Rosson
SEPTEMBER 2024

Rating: 5 out of 5.

If Fever House was a heavy metal single, its successor, The Devil by Name, is a rock opera power ballad.

The post-apocalyptic aftermath is told by a series of rotating narrations, each with their own unique style; from folksy down-south southern country to gunmetal slick pulp noir and the self-indulgent ramblings of a coked up rockstar, just to name a few.

While it’s not the fast-paced, action-packed rollercoaster brought on by Fever House, The Devil By Name brings a more measured and comprehensive pace to answer the cliffhanger left to us by its predecessor, though not without it’s own shocking moments of brutality.

With the return of some familiar characters and the debut of several more, Rosson manages to skillfully weave these varying perspectives while keeping you guessing with its fair share of twists and turns.
