Dear Hanna
By Zoje Stage

Since we last saw Hanna Jensen in Baby Teeth, she has grown up and moved out (but perhaps has not fully moved on) from the institution for troubled children.
Four years ago, Hanna met Jacob Altman. Though quite a bit older than her, the widow and his daughter, Joelle, completed a natural family unit for Hanna.
Assimilating to her adult life by way of many years in therapy, Hanna has taken a sincere interest to her job as a phlebotomist and feels a genuine connection to her new family. The only person from her old family she keeps in touch with is her little brother, Goose, who remains her pen pal.
When the possibility of a baby threatens to shake the foundation of Hanna’s perceived safe and perfect life, she will have to fight all of her old impulses to try to course-correct in decidedly unconventional ways.
For fans of Baby Teeth, it’s fascinating to see the ways Hanna has developed as an adult, but reading Baby Teeth is certainly not required to enjoy this stand-alone novel about a troubled and misunderstood girl who has become a troubled and misunderstood woman.
