A CERTAIN HUNGER
By Chelsea G. Summers
OCTOBER 2019

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Dorothy is a New York City food critic and a proud psychopath. In this memoir written from prison, Dorothy describes her insatiable lust for sex, fine dining, murder, and cannibalism. She explores themes of guilt, psychopathy, relationships and forgiveness.

Unfortunately, the character development fell flat for me, particularly due to the fact that Dorothy’s character seems to be little more than a thinly-veiled nymphomaniac female impersonation of Hannibal Lecter.

Unabashedly pretentious and unforgivingly meandering, this story takes the reader through disjointed memories ranging from passionate sex and violence to musings on Baked Alaska and heads-on Mediterranean shrimp.

I know I am in the minority on this one, but this disappointed me. I had so looked forward to reading it.
